How to Say Dates in Indonesian

Hello everyone! 👋
Today, we're going to learn how to say dates in Indonesian! It's a practical expression that you can use in everyday situations like booking travel dates, making plans with friends, or talking about your age. Make sure to master it!

Did you know? The way expiration dates are written in Indonesia is different from Korea. Check out the date format below!



1. Basic Formula for Saying Dates

1) Structure
Tanggal + Number + Bulan + Tahun
(Date + Month + Year)


2) How to Say the Date (Tanggal)


1st → Tanggal satu

15th → Tanggal lima belas

31st → Tanggal tiga puluh satu


✅ Tip: Just say Tanggal followed by the number.

2) How to Say the Month (Bulan)

January → Januari

February → Februari

March → Maret

April → April

May → Mei

June → Juni

July → Juli

August → Agustus

September → September

October → Oktober

November → November

December → Desember


2) How to Say the Year (Tahun)

2024 → Tahun dua ribu dua puluh empat

1998 → Tahun seribu sembilan ratus sembilan puluh delapan

🗣️ Example 1: Asking for a Birthday

Kapan kamu lahir? (When were you born?)
➡️ Saya lahir tanggal dua puluh Mei tahun dua ribu.
(I was born on May 20, 2000.)


Example 2: Talking About Today’s Date

Hari ini tanggal berapa? (What’s today’s date?)
➡️ Hari ini tanggal lima belas Juli.
(Today is July 15th.)


Example 3: Mentioning Travel Dates

Kapan kamu pergi ke Indonesia? (When are you going to Indonesia?)
➡️ Saya pergi tanggal dua puluh tiga Agustus tahun dua ribu dua puluh lima.
(I’m going on August 23, 2025.)
